WAEC past questions & answers

Objective and theory practice for WASSCE, topic by topic, with explanations and theory marking that shows you where the marks are.

About WAEC WASSCE

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). School candidates usually write it in their final year of senior secondary school, and there is also a version for private candidates. Your WAEC result matters for admission, because universities and JAMB look for at least credit passes in the relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

Objective and theory papers

Most WAEC subjects have more than one paper: an objective paper with multiple-choice questions and a theory (essay) paper where you show your working or write full answers. Science subjects also have practical papers. Because of this, WAEC preparation needs both quick objective practice and well-written theory answers.

How to practise WAEC past questions

  1. Start with the syllabus topics. Practise objective questions topic by topic on iSharp so you cover the whole syllabus.
  2. Write theory answers by hand. In the exam you'll write on paper, so practise writing full answers.
  3. Get your theory marked. iSharp's theory marking checks your answer and shows where you lost marks.
  4. Use flashcards for definitions. Many theory marks come from exact definitions and key terms.
  5. Time yourself. Practise full papers within the time allowed.

Scoring higher in theory

  • Answer the exact question asked. Underline command words like state, explain, describe and calculate.
  • Show every step in calculations. Method marks add up.
  • Use correct units and labelled diagrams.
  • Number your answers clearly and start each question on a new page if instructed.

Also writing JAMB? Many topics overlap, so your JAMB past questions practice helps your WAEC objectives too. Writing NECO as well? See NECO past questions.

Always confirm official details. Exam formats, dates and rules can change from year to year. Check the latest information on the official website of the exam body before you register or sit the exam.
